Architekton

John Kane is a founding partner and design principal with Architekton. With over 30 years of practice, he designs in a truly inclusive, collaborative approach that expressively reconciles program, site and climate. Integrally sustainable, adaptable and responsible, Architekton’s projects consistently strive to make connections to context, culture and community. From master planning and urban design to project detailing, John works at all scales to carefully consider each unique project and client. John serves as adjunct faculty at his alma matter, Arizona State University, as well as past chairman and current member of the City of Tempe Sustainability Commission.


Philip Weddle, FAIA, LEED AP

WEDDLE GILMORE black rock studio

Philip co-founded WEDDLE GILMORE in 1999 with partner Michael Gilmore. Philip has completed projects in the fields of architecture and urban planning that demonstrate his unique approach to discovering appropriate responses to site development across a range of ecological and urban contexts. Committed to the public good, his award winning firm has actively sought out project opportunities that directly benefit underserved and culturally diverse communities. The firm was awarded the AIA Arizona Sustainable Firm of the Year in 2008 and the AIA Firm of the Year in 2009. Philip was awarded the Arizona Architect’s Medal in 2012 and was inducted into the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows in 2014.


Christiana Moss, AIA

Studio MA

Christiana Moss approaches architecture with vision, optimism and a commitment to testing and research; all integral qualities of our collaborative design practice. As Studio Ma’s managing partner, Christiana is responsible for assisting our clients with identifying project goals, facilitating decisions and leading the design team to realize successful buildings. Her ability to grasp the interrelationships among these issues and use them to shape memorable architecture is integral to our practice. Christiana received her Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art and Planning. She interned in the offices office of Simon Ungers in New York City upon graduation. In 1997, she moved to Arizona and was a member of the offices of McCoy and Simon Architects and Eddie Jones from 1998-2003 before founding Studio Ma. Christiana has worked on numerous educational, institutional and cultural program types, where she applied her design and management skills towards the successful completion of both small and large scale projects, including public-private partnerships with Princeton and Arizona State Universities.


Matthew Salenger, AIA, AA Dipl (Hons)

coLAB Studio, LLC art + architecture

Matthew is an artist, architect, and co-founder/managing partner of coLAB studio. He was raised on the small island of Maui, finished his education in Britain, and has (mostly) lived in Arizona since 1993. Matthew studied figure painting and architecture for 10 years, and graduated with honors from the Architectural Association of London in 1999. Deeply driven to find real-world and repeatable solutions for regenerative construction, Matthew studies Biophilia, Integral Theory, and Sociology. In addition to pushing the boundaries of progressive construction, his volunteer work is dedicated to improving social and economic conditions, including his co-founding of the Urban Choices Group in 2012 and the Citizens for a Vibrant Apache Corridor group in 2014, both dedicated to improving thriving downtown areas in Arizona. Matthew is a member of the AIA, and member/ambassador of the ILFI.


Caroline Lobo, AIA, PhD, LEED AP

suoLL Architects

As a founding principal of the studio, Caroline brings a design and sustainability focus, while sharing the company’s operations responsibilities.  Caroline has worked with her partner, Rob for over 12 years, collaborating on many educational projects across the p-12/higher education spectrum. Together they have transitioned to a studio based design firm. Caroline brings over twenty years of experience in the profession of architecture and a passion for designing with nature.  Caroline has worked on the design of a number of residential, institutional, healthcare and educational projects in India, Germany and the Unites States. Her penchant for research, design and experience of working in different cultures brings a unique perspective to the studio.  She speaks at local, national and international conferences, has chaired design juries and has been widely published.
