Anne Schopf, FAIA (Jury Chair)
Design Partner, Mahlum
Anne Schopf FAIA is Design Partner at Mahlum Architects, a 75-year-old architectural firm with offices in Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon. Under her leadership Mahlum received the 2014 Firm Award from the American Institute of Architects Northwest and Pacific Region (AIA NWPR). Her work is respected for its thoughtful integration of beauty, economy and sustainability which serves community based educational and healthcare clients. Anne was also the recipient of the 2013 AIA NWPR Medal of Honor. The Medal of Honor is the highest commendation presented to an individual by the Region and recognizes an individual member of the AIA NWPR who has consistently demonstrated excellence in design, the practice of architecture, architectural education, or service to the profession. Anne has actively led both the national AIA’s Committee on Design (COD) and AIA Seattle in the Chair and President role respectively. Anne received a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in both Civil Engineering and Building Sciences from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is a registered architect in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, New York, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Louisiana, Hawaii and Alaska.
Susan Jones, FAIA, LEED BD+C

Susan Jones, FAIA, LEED BD+C, is a practicing architect, founder of atelierjones, an architecture, urban and ecodesign firm. Founded in 2003, the eleven year old firm’s work entwines design, research, and community engagement to create projects of urban reclamation: of sites, buildings, materials, waste, and ways of living. Susan’s work has been recognized by numerous national, regional and local design awards. Licensed in over 15 states, she has been a visiting design professor and critic at numerous universities, and is Affiliate Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Washington. Susan earned her B.A from Stanford in Philosophy, and her M.Arch from the Harvard GSD in 1988. She has been working for architects since she was sixteen.
Donald R. Horn, FAIA, LEED Fellow
Deputy Director, GSA Office of Federal High-Performance Green Buildings
Mr. Horn has worked for GSA for nearly 25 years in both sustainability and historic preservation. He is a true leader in green-building policy development and advocacy within the federal government. His outstanding work impacts national standards and architectural practices to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of all buildings across the country. He demonstrates the power of architecture to address some of the world’s most-pressing challenges, such as energy and water conservation, community transformation, and innovation in civic environments. Horn holds architecture degrees from the University of Virginia and the Georgia Institute of Technology.
John Chau, AIA, LEED AP
Partner, LMN Architects
As a Design Partner at LMN Architects, John brings over 20 years of planning and design expertise to both urban design and architectural projects, applying consistently innovative solutions to challenging design problems. His collaborative working style and mentoring skills have been fundamental in the success of many of the firm’s most important projects, including Benaroya Symphony Hall, Vancouver Convention Centre West and the Hines Expedia Tower. John’s previous experience with private sector clients includes Seattle’s Stadium Place residential mixed-use complex, the Mark office and hotel tower, and Nintendo of America Headquarters, along with international work on university and transportation facilities in Hong Kong and mainland China. John has been a guest critic for architectural design studios at the University of Washington and Oklahoma State University. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Oklahoma State University, and a Master of Architecture degree from Yale University.
Dawn Bushnaq, AIA
Principal, Bushnaq Studio Architecture + Design
Founded by Dawn in 2009, Bushnaq Studio is an emerging practice that embraces challenging sites and programmatic complexity. With interests in formal and material richness; urban, social and environmental patterns; housing and construction technology, the firm seeks, through built projects, to expand what it means to make thoughtful, responsive buildings. The firm’s Belltown Modular project, a 7-story factory-built apartment building, received the WoodWorks 2015 Multistory Design Award and Honorable Mention at the 2014 AIA Seattle Honor Awards. Dawn is on the Board of Directors of the Pomegranate Center, an organization focused on “making neighborhoods more livable, sustainable, just and socially engaged”. She also serves periodically as juror for design studios at the University of Washington. From 2009 – 2013, Dawn was a member and, then, Chair of Seattle’s East Design Review Board. She holds degrees from Yale University and Virginia Tech.
