Calling all professionals with a diverse set of backgrounds!
Urban Core + Connections Charrette Participant Recruitment
AIA San Diego’s Member Firm Carrier Johnson and the Urban Core + Connections project team, in collaboration with The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), invites qualified professionals to participate in a half-day charrette focused on developing creative and meaningful solutions for key challenge areas along two vital corridors serving our Downtown urban core.
The Interstate 5 ‘S-Curve’ divides Downtown from adjacent communities including Balboa Park. Reconnection opportunities including those that enhance the public realm are needed while keeping in mind critical climate adaptation needs.
Pacific Highway: A corridor partially redundant of Interstate 5, Pacific Highway is our bay-to-bay connection filled with opportunities to better connect the diverse surroundings destinations and newly densifying neighborhoods in more people-oriented ways.
The Urban Core + Connections project aims to reduce car reliance and pollution while advancing social equity and enhancing quality of life for everyone living, working, or spending time in the region’s urban core.
We seek a diverse set of professionals with varying perspectives to participate in the workshop. Interested individuals with expertise in urban design, public realm planning, architecture, transportation, social equity, environmental sustainability, or related fields are encouraged to submit a statement of interest with resume for consideration to Katee Chard, Senior Associate, kac@carrierjohnson.com by Monday, 8/12/24. If selected, compensation for your time participating in the workshop will be provided.
