As climate change hazards such as extreme heat, flooding and drought, wildfires, and sea-level rise impact our communities, it’s important we prepare for, respond to and make our City more resilient to them.
Last December, the City adopted its first-ever climate resiliency plan called Climate Resilient SD. San Diego's new Chief Resilience Officer, Julia Chase, is tasked with coordinating and carrying out the plan’s 86 adaptation strategies. This includes tracking the City’s progress on implementing Climate Resilient SD, participating in regional efforts for adaptation planning and continuing community engagement related to equitable plan implementation.
Julia worked for the Planning Department from 2018 to 2021, during which time she helped develop the Climate Resilient SD Plan.
