What can we do to make sure our civic amenities and streets are Orchid-worthy?
The San Diego Architecture Foundation 2023 Orchids and Onions have wrapped up and have been discussed in newspapers, television news, and online forums. This year, Howard Blackson visited the four (4) Onions and discussed why these places were disliked by a majority of San Diegans who participated in the O&O event this year. The Balboa Theater, Gallagher Square, Sidewalk Equipment Boxes, and 4th/5th Street Bike Lanes were among the projects discussed and dissected by Howard.
What qualities made these projects deserving of an Onion? At the November RDAC meeting, urbanist Howard Blackson will break down all of the Onions from this year's O&O ceremony. Together, we will collectively discuss and dissect why, or why not, these San Diego projects, parks, and streetscapes were worthy of our scorn. What can we do to ensure our civic amenities and streets are Orchid-worthy?
Join the conversation as we evaluate how we can do better as a city. Let's discuss!
