Kevin DeFreitas, FAIA

A native of San Diego, Kevin deFreitas is a licensed architect and developer who is extremely passionate about the quality of the built environment. Kevin deFreitas Architects, AIA was establish in 1998 as a multidisciplinary practice to expand beyond the traditional boundaries of pure design, allowing the firm to self-develop several highly innovative urban in-fill projects that otherwise would not have been achievable.

Kevin has been instrumental in connecting the Chapter with other non-profit partner organizations and in raising the notoriety of the profession in the broader community through creative programs.

Barbara Leon, Heleo Architecture and Design

Barbara Leon, AIA is a co-founder and principal of Heleo Architecture + Design, a multidisciplinary design practice in San Diego. As a licensed architect in California and Colorado, she leads the studio’s projects in the commercial, retail, and residential markets with the goal of creating progressive experiences through the built environment. She has participated in past WIA panel discussions and in 2021, she served as a mentor for the Diversity Scholarship winner, Gabriela Arevalo.

Brian Koshley | Ware Malcomb

Brian brings over 35 years of architectural design expertise to the Ware Malcomb team. As Regional Director, he oversees all aspects of architecture, interior architecture, and client relationships for the San Diego offices. Brian is heavily involved with on-going communication, coordination of architectural and interior architecture design, as well as on-site project supervision that includes consultant, contractor and vendor coordination. As a licensed architect, he works as the primary client contact to lead design requirements and solutions from conceptual development to documentation and implantation of design into a final product that makes a difference for his clients.

Jeana Renger

Jeana Kim Renger is an Executive Vice President and Managing Principal of the Bay Area office for Ferguson Pape Baldwin Architects. She has experience in a wide range of market sectors including life sciences, municipal, commercial, industrial, hospitality, multifamily residential, and healthcare. Jeana graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Master of Architecture degree and Bachelor of Science Degree from University of Maryland, College Park. She is a licensed architect in California and LEED Accredited Professional. Jeana served for two years on the Board of Directors of CREW San Diego, a professional organization dedicated to empowering women in commercial real estate. Her passion for architecture is not only evident in her practice of architecture, but also in her teaching and involvement in the architectural community, having taught Design Studio over a period of 10 years, served as ACE Mentor, and participated as juror on numerous Design Studio critiques. J She believes in the power of architecture in invoking change in society. She believes that architects have a social responsibility to explore, understand and implement holistic sustainable design in our built environment. Jeana is always ready to engage in dialogue with people who are passionate about finding solutions to positively impact our community.
