Affordable Housing | Where Design Meets Policy

It has been a while since we have met as a community - we hope to see you all there! This is a great opportunity to engage as the diverse group that makes up RDAC - new faces and seasoned members are all welcome!

The Regional Design Advisory Council (RDAC) operates under the auspices of the Advocacy Commission and meets monthly. Members include design professionals interested in helping to shape San Diego’s future and address the “big picture” issues in the region.

RDAC meets regularly via Zoom on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at Noon

Featured Speaker

Frank Wolden

For the past 30 years, Frank Wolden has worked as a 'hands-on' designer leading creative teams of architects and planners on projects ranging from individual buildings designed to connect with complex urban settings, to large-scale visionary masterplans. His background in fine arts is reflected in his commitment to an 'idea-driven design process' where projects focus on human experiences and tell stories of the places they create. For many years, Mr. Wolden has been intensely involved in the transformation of San Diego's urban core from a blighted area to a bustling urban center. Beyond San Diego, Frank's work has ranged from landmark buildings to masterplans for visionary cities across the globe. Frank recently formed a new studio, simply referred to as FRANK, where he has forged collaborative relationships with a number of high-profile design firms. His transdisciplinary design process, referred to as 'City Design', seeks to break down the barriers between architecture, landscape architecture, and planning in favor of an integrated approach. As an artist/designer, Frank's current focus is on the creative relationship between architecture and 'big urban art'. His current projects range from visionary plans for a mile of coast highway, to innovative residential communities in Del Mar, to landmark projects at San Diego State where architecture and urban art combine to create a unique campus experience.
