AIA San Diego and the Architects Foundation are leading a workshop focused on the redevelopment of San Diego’s six-block Civic Center. The site represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create lasting public value.
The Downtown San Diego Partnership and the Prebys Foundation introduced a new vision—backed by city leadership—in 2025. This redevelopment has the potential to redefine downtown San Diego for the 21st Century, including the City Administration Building, City Operations Building, Golden Hall, Civic Center Plaza, Civic Theater, Evan V. Jones Parkade, and the property at 101 Ash Street.
This “Urban Studio” combines a guided tour of the existing Civic Center with a collaborative workshop and access to the civic leaders planning its future. Participants will explore comparative models from other cities, including arts and culture districts, placemaking strategies, urban design frameworks, and successful public spaces, and explore how thoughtful design can support community engagement.
Registration to the Conference is required to attend. You will be able to add the program to your cart in the process.
