Celebrate architecture in action! This exclusive tour is part of AIA San Diego’s Architecture Week, highlighting the region’s most transformative design and construction projects.

Join us for an exclusive tour of the soon-to-be-completed Terminal 1 at San Diego International Airport (SDIA), led by Turner Construction, the firm spearheading this transformative project. This state-of-the-art terminal designed by Gensler to enhance passenger experience and accommodate future growth, reflecting San Diego's commitment to innovation and sustainability.​

Important Safety Notice – PPE Required

All participants must bring their own PPE:

  • Hard hat

  • Safety glasses

  • Safety vest

  • Work boots (required – no exceptions)

Turner Construction will have a limited supply of guest PPE (except boots), but we strongly encourage all attendees to arrive with full PPE to ensure access to the construction site.

Highlights of the New Terminal 1:

  • Modern Facilities: The new terminal will feature 30 gates, expanded gate-area seating, and a streamlined 13-lane security checkpoint to ensure efficient passenger flow.

  • Enhanced Amenities: Travelers can look forward to 26 restaurants and retail stores, offering a variety of local and international options. ​

  • Sustainable Design: With 185 electric vehicle charging stations and a goal to achieve LEED Gold certification, the terminal underscores SDIA's commitment to environmental stewardship. 

  • Improved Accessibility: A new on-airport entrance road will provide quicker access by bypassing local traffic, complemented by new bicycle lanes and a pedestrian path connecting the airport to surrounding communities
