1 CE| Lost and Found: Forgotten Projects of Irving J. Gill

  • First Church of Christ, Scientist, 1123 8th Street (near C Ave) Coronado, CA, 92118 United States (map)

Architects, historians, and design enthusiasts alike are drawn to the work of master architect Irving J. Gill. While his body of work has been relatively well documented in books, scholarly papers and archives, there are projects that for various reasons disappeared from the record. Many have been lurking in the shadows, others have been hiding in plain sight. While some have been disfigured by remodeling, a few remain surprisingly intact. A handful of buildings attributed to other architects have turned out to be the product of his genius. Projects once absent from the “official” lists of Gill’s prodigious output will be the focus of this presentation. Join us at the first church of Christ, Scientist in Coronado for an evening of surprise and delight.
