1.5 LU/HSW: Decarbonization Toolbox- "What's In Your Toolbox?"

AIA LA Presents: Decarbonization Toolbox – “What’s in your toolbox?”

CES Units: 1.5 LU/HSW

Architects, Interior Designers, Structural Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Landscape Architects can have positive impacts on the climate change through their work – collaboration on energy efficiency, landscape design, material selection, and a host of other strategies to support high-performing designs. By teaming up BIM Managers and technology specialists, we will explore how decarbonization tools support these efforts. During this session, our experts will present about technology they’re interested in or are using, as it relates to sustainability, and discuss the next steps to ensuring these technologies are more universally applied across our work.

Panelists

Rachelle Habchi

Project Engineer, Glotman Simpson Structural Engineers

Ben Regnier

Design Technology Lead, Gensler

Thesla Collier Studio Design

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will learn about the impacts of the built environment generating nearly 50% of annual global CO2 emissions.

  • Participants will learn how to create a partnership with the BIM managers and learn how each discipline can work together to reduce the carbon emissions of the project.

  • Participants will be able to understand what each tool offers for the different stages in constructions and operations, and an overall impact on the built environment.

  • Participants will learn how to set themselves and their firm apart from the competitors by exploring and understanding the relatively new building tools.
