Many pathways lead to a career in architecture; many avenues await you along your journey. Join a diverse group of experienced architects for a panel discussion of designers representing varying areas of focus. Explore sample projects and a “day in the life” of each panelist; ask them which path they took to get there and why.

Isabel Mandujano

Lab Planner | LPA Design Studio

Isabel Mandujano leads LPA’s laboratory planning practice, helping to create innovative research and development facilities for corporate, pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. Throughout her career, she has worked with corporate clients to develop sustainable ground-up research and development facilities in established life science campuses, as well as transform existing retail and office space to laboratories that support emerging life science ecosystems.

Matthew Winter

Historic Architect | LPA Design Studios

Matthew Winter is the Director of Mixed Use at LPA Design Studios and has been responsible for the project management of a variety of award-winning projects of multiple typologies including housing, medical, civic, developer and mixed-use projects. His work on the Pacific Center Campus in Southern California received the 2017 American Architecture Award and the 2016 Best Project for Office/Retail/Mixed Use from ENR’s California’s Best Projects.

He is currently serving on the Historic Resource Board of the City of San Diego. Additionally, he is President of beautifulPB, the non-profit that is managing the certification process for the Pacific Beach EcoDistrict. He has helped spearhead multiple community-led projects within the EcoDistrict, ranging from new bicycle paths, community mural events, new placemaking, municipal code, new park designations, and an EcoDistrict planning checklist for new development. He previously served on the Uptown Planning Board, and as a Director on the Pacific Beach Town Council.

Alison Kellerer -

Project Architect | Carrier Johnson + CULTURE

Alison Kung-Kellerer has been with Carrier Johnson + CULTURE for almost 39 years. The diversity of experiences in both public and private sectors as senior project architect includes institutional, commercial, mixed-use and municipal facilities for clients such as San Diego State University; University of California, San Diego; California State Polytechnic University, Pomona; County of San Diego, California State Correctional Facilities and the Military.
