This month, RDAC is joined by Carlos de la Mora, Architect, Planner, Advocate, and CEO of the World Design Capital 2024. Carlos will discuss the unique efforts of our cross-border community and what opportunities are in store for World Design Capital 2024.
Carlos de la Mora
Architect by training and connector by nature, Carlos has worked in architecture, design, and planning since 1993. He studied Architecture and Urban Design at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and obtained a Graduate Degree from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc, Los Angeles) in 1999. Carlos moved to San Diego in 2005 and until 2008 directed business development efforts in Mexico for Nolte Associates. He was an Urban Land Institute (ULI) San Diego/Tijuana Executive Committee member and founding co-chair of their Cross-Border Committee.
In 2009, Carlos joined the Design + Planning team at AECOM, where he held the position of Mexico Director for five years.
In 2018, Carlos became Executive Director for ULI Mexico and led the Land Development practice for CBRE in Mexico for the next four years. A bicultural citizen with an extraordinary ability in developing professional and personal relationships, Carlos works with artists, investors, designers, architects, and developers, connecting people, projects, and places across an array of social, cultural, professional, and economic circles in Mexico and the United States.
As of July 2022, Carlos is the Chief Executive Officer for World Design Capital (WDC)
The Regional Design Advisory Council (RDAC) operates under the auspices of the Advocacy Commission and meets monthly. Members include design professionals interested in helping to shape San Diego’s future and address the “big picture” issues in the region.
