The College of Fellows, founded in 1952, is composed of members of the Institute who are elected to Fellowship by a jury of their peers. Fellowship is one of the highest honors the AIA can bestow upon a member. Elevation to Fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of the architect as an individual but also elevates before the public and the profession those architects who have made significant contributions to architecture and to society. If you are interested in pursuing AIA Fellowship, the AIA SD Fellows Committee would like to consider the achievements of your professional career within the context of supporting that goal. If would like to be nominated by the AIA San Diego Chapter, we request that you submit a Letter of Interest (1 page maximum), accompanied by the supporting materials identified on the attached checklist form.
Your material will be reviewed by the Fellows Committee and you will then be advised as to the status of your candidacy as a Chapter-supported candidate in mid-May of this year. Formal nomination for Fellowship by the AIA SD Chapter will be provided in mid-October upon completion of the AIA SD FC submission review process.
Please be aware that only those AIA members in good standing, and supported by the AIA San Diego Chapter Fellows Committee review process, will receive nomination by the AIA San Diego Chapter.
Your Letter of Interest, and all supporting information as identified on the checklist, must be received at Chapter headquarters no later than 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 08, 2015, in order to be reviewed by the Committee. All 1st time applicants should also plan to attend the AIA San Diego Chapter’s “Demystifying Fellowship” presentation on Tuesday, April 07, 2015 from 12:00 Noon – 1:30PM. This presentation will provide important information related to the AIA Fellowship submission process. Additional details about this session will be available shortly.
