 This program will cover residential and non-residential building envelope and lighting and mechanical requirements affecting commercial and high rise-residential new construction under California’s 2008 Title-24 Energy Efficiency Standards scheduled to take effect August 1, 2009. Attend this program to learn how the latest version of the Standards will affect building design in your commercial and residential new construction projects.

Learning Objectives (Earn 1 HSW/SD LU):

  1. Discover California’s 2008 Title 24 Energy Efficiency Standards and the new changes that will be in effect later this year.
  2. Summarize the aspects of the Standards that are new including: further reducing peak electricity consumption and incorporating greater energy efficiency measures.
  3. Examine the specific changes to code as it relates to lighting and mechanical requirements.
  4.  Discuss the residential and non-residential building envelope and impact the new changes have on building design.
  5. Demonstrate how the latest version of the Standards will affect building design in commercial and residential new construction projects.  

Presenter: Martyn Dodd, EnergySoft, LLC, having written software used in California for Title 24 energy code compliance for the past 26 years, Mr. Dodd is principal of EnergySoft, a Bay Area company that specializes in performance based energy analysis.  He is one of the original authors of the 1992 Nonresidential Alternative Calculation Method (ACM) manual, which defines the rules for code compliance software, and has become the model for both national and international code compliance software procedures.
