About the Design Awards:

2010 marks the 50th year anniversary of AIA San Diego’s Design Awards program. The AIA San Diego Design Awards program was created to highlight outstanding architecture; to elevate the standards of good design; and to inspire, educate and influence the architectural community. Originally instituted in 1960 as the bi-annual “Honor Awards Program,” the program became an annual event in 1982 in response to increased participation, growing AIA visibility and heightened design awareness.

In celebration of 50 years of exceptional architecture and design in San Diego, AIASD is adding some special awards to this year’s program including a Members’ Choice Award from the last 50 years of Honor Award-winning buildings that have stood the test of time. Additionally, there will some special surprises at the Awards Gala on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Neurosciences Institute in La Jolla where this year’s winners will be announced.
